Chu Hsien Hsien was born in Taichung, Taiwan in 1981. She has a master’s degree in Literature from Leeds Metropolitan University and a master’s from the Graduate Institute of Fine Art of Tunghai University. She currently teaches in the School of Literature at Tunghai University and is a Life Aesthetics lecturer for the EMBA program. She showed great artistic talent from a young age. Living and studying in the US, Canada, and the UK from the age of 16 gave her an interest in exploring the world and the ability to do so. She self-taught herself fashion design, bartending, and photography for the autonomous experience. She formally entered the field of painting creation three years ago. Her intuitive abstract paintings made her an overnight sensation and she became the new shining star of Taiwanese art. She was invited to take part in the Ditu auction in 2021 and had good results. In 2022, her works were selected for the Salon d'Automne in France; the same year she held the solo exhibition “Cosmopolitan” and was reported widely in the media.

Chu Hsien Hsien : As a lover of photography, I always observed the world through my eyes and caught fleeting touching moments to convey an artistic conception that words cannot express. However, I found that photography can’t reach some places; this can be supplemented by painting. This realization sparked painting creation. To me, art is like air or nutrients that sustain life and is spiritually comforting in an indescribable way. Sometimes it is elegant, sometimes comfortable, sometimes it is fascinating and seems to have the magical power to guide us to where “beauty” exists. Art is my second life: It is I and I am it.
